A highly sustainable school scheme, designed by NPS, has won the 2019 SPACES Innovation Award.
Loddiswell Primary School, a £3 million project for Devon County Council, was opened to staff and pupils in April 2018, providing the four-class school with all its facilities on one site for the first time.
The zero carbon (in design) facility by NPS South West includes a number of sustainable features such as air source heat pumps and solar panels, which will also provide income for the school with surplus electricity generated being supplied back to the grid.
The annual SPACES Awards are the only awards in the industry that are solely dedicated to rewarding excellence, collaboration and innovation in construction projects delivered within the Public Sector.
Loddiswell Primary School was one of seven schemes from across NPS Group to be shortlisted in the SPACES Yearbook 2019, alongside some of the best local authority schemes in the country.
The Yearbook showcases the variety of projects that public funding produces along with the innovation and people involved in delivering them, promoting the development of high quality Public Buildings through the formal recognition of excellence in design, refurbishment and construction.
