A housing scheme managed by NPS, which forms part of a wider regeneration project in Walthamstow, has been shortlisted for Best Shared Ownership Development at the Inside Housing Development Awards 2019.
Working closely with the contractor, Countryside and our joint venture partner, London Borough of Waltham Forest, NPS London provided project management and quantity surveying services for this project.
Moreno House includes 18 shared ownership units, and has provided a thoroughly beneficial addition to the housing market in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. The shared ownership units have been created to the same high specification as the private sale properties and have been designed with sustainability, the community and the residents of Waltham Forest at the forefront.
The building is constructed in reinforced concrete, with a highly insulated external fabric and is covered by a large flat biodiverse living roof. With continued urban expansion absorbing the habitats of indigenous plants, insect and birds; large flat biodiverse ‘living roofs’ offer an effective and practical use of space, while helping to sustain and replace lost habitats in the process, providing fresh areas for the local ecology to thrive.
Photovoltaic renewable energy is also harvested from roof mounted PV panels, to further reduce the demand on the local power network. Water saving sanitary ware has been installed to help reduce unnecessary water waste.
The award winners will be announced at a ceremony on 27 November in London.
