An extensive project to repair and renovate a Grade II listed Town Hall Clock Tower in Waltham Forest has been shortlisted for the Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards 2019.
These awards recognise the very best companies, collaborations and projects – sharing best practice and inspiring others to adopt new and better ways of working that deliver outstanding results. Delivered by our London office, the project is in the running for the Preservation and Rejuvenation category.
This complex project involved essential interior and exterior works to ensure this local landmark will be around for future generations to enjoy. Improvements were made to the integrity and appearance of the tower, including future proofing copper flashings carried out by specialists in roofing metal craftsmanship. An expert abseiling team ensured contractors could reach all areas in need of renovation, as scaffolding was not possible due to issues with the roof structure. A new power supply was installed for the clock and added security put in place in case a power outage occurred.
The project has been highly praised by the client for ensuring the preservation of this historic local monument. Award winners will be announced at a ceremony in June.
