NPS Barnsley has helped scoop a national building maintenance award and been named a winner in the annual Brand Yorkshire Awards in a double December success.
NPS Barnsley helped joint venture partner Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (BMBC), be named as “Best Performer” in the Building Maintenance category at the prestigious Association of Public Service Excellence (APSE) Performance Awards held at the Grand Hotel, Blackpool last Thursday (6 December).
Barnsley was also shortlisted in the 'Most Improved'' category at the awards night - one of only five authorities nationally to be a finalist in both categories this year.
The night before, NPS Barnsley was named Property and Construction Business of the Year (medium sized) at the 2018 Brand Yorkshire Awards, which celebrate the best businesses across Yorkshire.
Now in its eight year of trading, NPS Barnsley:
- employs over 100 staff, 11% of which are apprentices
- provides a profit share to JV partner Barnsley Council of £1.9m
- has spent £15m with local businesses
- carries out 100 volunteer hours annually
- has raised £56k for local charities.
Managing Director Karen Temple and Associate Director Construction Rob Young attended the Awards evening in Leeds and were thrilled to be accompanied by the Mayor and Mayoress of Barnsley, councillor Joe Hayward, councillor Kath Mitchell and Tim Hartley (Corporate Asset Manager for BMBC).They were also joined by Nick Kealey (Arcadis) and Luke Axe (Keyland Developments), who are key framework members of Barnsley Council’s Land Solve Framework, which was also a finalist in the Innovation Category.
