NPS London, our Joint Venture with London Borough of Waltham Forest (LBWF) has been shortlisted in the Public/Public Partnerships category at the LGC Awards 2019.
This prestigious award recognises public sector partnerships which have brought about service improvements, efficiencies and community benefit. NPS London is positively contributing to the economic growth of Waltham Forest by helping the council transform its properties and land for the benefit of all. Over the last year:
- the first homes for social rent have been designed and built on brownfield sites unviable to a commercial developer
- an old magistrates’ court has been transformed into a café with collaborative workspaces above
- two schools have been expanded and another completely refurbished.
The team will now attend a Judging Day in January to present why they should win, with the final awards ceremony held in March.
NPS London has also been shortlisted for Best Partnership with LBWF and Engie at the Inside Housing Development Awards for the second year running, for their garage and infill sites project – The Spaces In Between.
The scheme is creating 134 new homes on 21 small brownfield sites, considered unviable by commercial developers, and all the homes will provide affordable housing via social rent. Nearly all the sites have been blocks of garages, many in disuse and often encouraging anti-social behaviour; or infill sites, where opportunities have been identified to extend existing buildings.
Winners will be announced on 29 November.
