This complete refurbishment and power upgrade, within a Grade II Listed building, has enabled Hull Culture & Leisure to cater for larger functions and events.
The modern, fit for purpose kitchen and storeroom, with high-quality finishes and appliances, was installed to an extremely pressurised time scale.
As the main contractor, our Building Maintenance Unit based in Hull managed the contract, and the specialist commercial kitchen contractor, to ensure that the project was handed over on time and in compliance with Listed Building and Environmental Health requirements as well as client needs.
The BMU’s flexible working hours approach, and close liaison with Hull Culture & Leisure, ensured that the project completed within a very tight programme, without impacting on a congested diary of events that included public open days, awards events and a concert by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Hull Culture & Leisure were able to cater for the Winmau World Masters Darts Championship just three days after handover.
Mitch Upfold, Managing Director of Hull Culture and Leisure Ltd said: “NPS did a terrific job for us against a very tight timescale and budget, for which we are grateful to all concerned. We now have a well designed, energy efficient and modern facility at City Hall which is arguable the most up to date kitchen in Hull. We now look forward to being able to expand and improve our catering offer.”
