We provide our clients with an industry-leading programme of surveys and management to support water hygiene.
At our Castleford office we have an agreement to take responsibility for water hygiene for Wakefield and District Housing (WDH). We established a comprehensive monitoring and control system, based on a database of water systems in WDH's property portfolio. We work with nominated WDH staff to implement the control measures.
As part of their auditing process, an assessor carried out a 'Control of Legionella Risk Management Survey' to ensure that the systems we had implemented for WDH were satisfactory. The survey consists of the management and monitoring procedures listed below:
- Risk assessment
- Roles and responsibilities
- Prevention and control
- Monitoring and inspection
- Record keeping
- Protection of people.
The outcome was a 100% score in all six areas, with no recommendations for improvement. This was noted as being a very rare achievement, and has helped to reduce the authority's insurance liability. David Tierney of WDH expressed his gratitude for our efforts:
"The involvement of NPS as the external legionella management company and our own in-house technical services team have enabled WDH to deliver a quality legionella management service, and without their involvement the result may have been very different".
