Our history

We are justifiably proud of our public sector roots and our pedigree of providing innovative property solutions to all clients.

NPS was first formed in 1993 as a Business Unit of Norfolk County Council. We traded successfully in this mode in our early years, mainly delivering services within Norfolk. Our reputation grew steadily and with it, a growing demand to deliver services to external clients, both in the public and private sectors. To meet this demand and to enable greater business flexibility and autonomy, the decision was taken to adopt limited company status.

NPS Property Consultants Limited was formed in April 2002, with all the shares owned by Norfolk County Council.  In a similar manner, the Council created Norse Commercial Services Limited (NCS).  Both now sit within the holding company, Norse Group Limited, formed in April 2006.

NPS has progressively expanded its customer base and areas of operation.  Turnover has grown from less than £4m in 1993/94 to £76m in 2010/11.  The company’s growth has resulted from the creation of joint venture partnerships with local authorities, as well as a number of acquisitions of private companies. The NPS Group now has 28 offices around the UK and a resource base of more than 1,200 staff.

Our joint venture partnerships are unique in setup and governance, providing our partners with real long term influence, engagement and rewards with minimal risk.
