Sophie, Countess of Wessex visited Norfolk recently to open the new NPS designed £12.1m Churchill Park School, the first new complex needs school in the county.
The Countess was introduced to NPS architect Michael Spicer – the lead designer for the project during her tour of the building, which includes a hydrotherapy pool, sensory rooms, a soft play area, adventure playground, nursery and sixth form provision.
After other engagements the Countess then headed to Lynnsport and Leisure Park, King’s Lynn which is a pre-training camp for the Olympics and Paralympics, to meet budding athletes.
She was there to find out about the work of the Norfolk Sports and Cultural Foundation, which celebrates Norfolk’s talent and raises the aspirations and achievements of local young people. Sophie met some of the young sporting stars including javelin and triple jumper Laura McDonald and sprinter Clieo Stephenson who are sponsored by our parent company the Norse Group.
