NPS has been commissioned by Wakefield Council as the lead design consultant, and work has begun on the site which complements the new Trinity Walk retail development. Key stakeholders (including affiliated clubs) have been consulted as part of the design process, and their comments have influenced the final proposals. The design is also compliant with the relevant standards issued by Sports England and the Amateur Swimming Association.
This iconic building has an anticipated life in excess of 50 years, and is expected to achieve a BREEAM 'very good' rating in light of its sustainability features. It will also exceed the minimum standards set out by the DDA Act and Sport England’s guidance note "Access for Disabled People".
